Dear KFJ Membership - It was outstanding to see all the players, parents, coaches and administrative staff at the first annual “KFJ Appreciation Day” and end-of-the-year (2014) party hosted at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex (MVSC) on Sunday, December 14th. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to celebrate with KFJ, and for your feedback that you provided in the questionnaires!
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 15, 2014) - A total of 104 players from 64 clubs participated in the id2 Training Camp held at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz., Dec. 11-14. While this was the final id2 Training Camp for the current age group cycle, which targeted boys born in 2001 and girls born in 2000, it also introduced the upcoming cycle for boys born in 2002 and girls born in 2001.
Mary Kate Schmidt (MVSC 94's/junior at Illinois Wesleyan) picked up several E.O.Y. honors including being named NCAA 3rd Team All-American. The Titans were also NCAA DIII National Semi-Finalists where MK was named to the all NCAA tournament team.
The KFJ u12 Girls won 2nd place in their division at the St. Louis Scott Gallagher Fall Festival, Oct. 11-12. They played some tough competition from Kansas City, Indiana and from our own city of Louisville.
Shannon MacMillan played for the United States Women's National team. She played an integral part in helping the USA win a Gold medal in the 1996 Olympics and the 1999 Women's World Cup.
The Kentucky Fire Juniors (KFJ) had another stellar weekend in both Bowling Green and Elizabethtown, Kentucky, with a total of 21 boys and girls competing in the 2014 Kentucky State Open Cup, hosted May 24-26. Of the 21 total teams competing in the preliminary (group) stages of the Kentucky State Open Cup, a record 19 KFJ teams advanced to the semi-final round of competition, to be hosted May 31!
The U17 Boys Kentucky Fire Juniors Premier team has won the Midwest Regional League First Division East Red with a perfect record of 6-0. The boys finished the league with a goal differential of +15, scoring 19 goals in six games while only conceding four.
Congratulations Kentucky Fire Juniors (KFJ) Players and Coaches on your outstanding performances at both the President’s Cup and Soccer Village Cup that took place May 17-18, 2014. Our Club had a record number of wins at both events and we continue to play a brand of soccer which is designed to help our players perform at a high level.
