Since assuming the role as KFJ Technical Director/Head Coach in January 2012 I have had a chance to witness a tremendous amount of change/growth in our club.
We are delighted to announce the 3 x Fire Juniors Night at Toyota Park for the spring and summer 2013 season.
The Kentucky Fire Juniors 96 and 98 girls competed in the Ohio Elite Showcase February 22 - February 24. The showcase was the first outdoor event of the spring season for both teams. The 96 girls ended the weekend going 1-1-1. On the morning of the 23rd, the team defeated Crystal Lake (Illinois) 2-0, getting goals from Mia Wiersma and Hannah Jaggers. The team enjoyed lots of possession and controlled the tempo of the game.
The Kentucky Fire Juniors participated in the Charleston Battery Cup February 15-17, 2013 with a team consisting of our KFJ u13 Premier team, in addition to our KFJ u12 and u11 Premier boys teams for this trip. It was a great weekend of soccer where our KFJ players were, at times, very competitive and at times out- matched. In the end it was a wonderful experience and a great weekend filled with top level soccer in each age group.
KFJ would like to welcome Andrew Quinn to our staff effective immediately. We are very pleased to announce Andrew will begin working with our Goalkeepers this upcoming Monday and Tuesday.
Mike Dickey, (KFJ Technical Director and Head Coach of the Girls ODP Region 2 Program), and Jerry Smith, (Head Coach of Santa Clara University and Girls ODP Region 4 Program) will be coaching this select group of 1996 born Olympic Development Players. Both Mike and Jerry have coached Youth National teams in the past and were selected to coach this team versus the U.S. u18 Women's National team. U.S. Youth National Team Director, April Heinrichs, will be watching the players in training and games throughout the week at the Olympic training center in Chula Vista, CA, in hopes of identifying players for future U.S. Women's National Team call-ups.
