KFJ Hosts Successful 3rd Major League Soccer Showcase

KFJ Players, Parents and Coaches,

Thank you all for participating in the 3rd Major League Soccer Showcase for MLS Academy and Affiliate teams. The Kentucky Fire Juniors played host to this event as you all know and we have received numerous calls/emails about the quality of play, good playing surfaces and the great time they had in our city of Louisville.

From a quality of soccer perspective, it was evident that Sporting Kansas City, Columbus Crew and the Chicago Fire are very serious about the development of their youth players. The number of teams attempting to play soccer at a high level from all 3 MLS clubs was very entertaining and it fits with how we are teaching the KFJ players here in Louisville.

The MLS Showcase is a developing program in its first year and we are leading the way in the United States.  We will see more Major League Soccer showcases appear in the future after they all see what we are doing.

This particular showcase had some organizational issues and we will express what we feel could improve to the organizers at the Chicago Fire.  We appreciate your continued patience and understanding with this matter.

I sincerely hope that the KFJ players and coaches had an enjoyable time at this terrific event and I hope that we have a chance to host this again in the future.

I think we should also give special thanks to our Director of Operations, Brett Gregory, for his behind the scenes work to make this Showcase work for all of our players.  He had to deal with many last minute changes throughout and during the event, which were beyond his control but he dealt with them like a true professional.  Thank you Brett!
